Bob Danko is a musician (violinist) and restauranteur from Toronto, Ontario. In the very early nineteen fifties, Bob was a good friend of Mike Douglas. At some stage - well before the conception of The Diamonds, Mike and Tedd asked Bob to sing with them.
Mike & Bob were friends. At this stage, Bob was probably the most experienced in music - having about ten years of formal training under his belt - in fact he had his own working band - "The Hungarian Gypsies".
Bob was a good friend of Bill Reed - who was unknown to Mike and Tedd at the time - that was until he introduced Bill to the boys. It is of historical interest that before the University of Toronto meeting of Tedd, Phil, Stan Fisher and Bill, three of The Diamonds were singing together.
Bob, Mike, Tedd and Bill often rehearsed at Saint Elizabeth church hall and the band shell at Lateshore Boulevard.
When Tedd began his university studies this group disbanded. Bob has always had an association with music and for a while, owned the famous "Sinatras" restaurant in Toronto.
Bob and Mike still keep in touch.
