Jim Malone

Canadian Jim Malone was in a vocal quartet from Ontario - The Blue Notes. Jim won out over many singers who auditioned for the role of Diamonds' lead singer when Dave Somerville announced his retirement from the group in 1961. Jim took over just before The Diamonds' contract with Mercury ended in mid 1962 - he can be heard on the Mercury recordings "The Horizontal Lieutenant" and "Vanishing American". Jim also sang on the single "Melody of Love"/"The Slide" in 1963 (Released on the Nathanial label). Jim stayed with The Diamonds until 1965, when he and tenor Evan Fisher joined forces as a duet - releasing the live album "Fisher and Malone" This worked for a couple of years until Jim decided to quit the business and return to his native Canada. Jim passed away in 2005.
